Treasure Trove

Miss Annie Scott an 18-year-old bus conductress of 10, Sheffield Road, Conisbrough, has just had three weeks off work following an accident which might have had more serious consequences, when she was knocked down and caught by the rear wheels of a bus.

She resumed work last Saturday and she had to hire a taxi to bring her home. In the taxi she found a handbag containing £329 in notes and silver, together with savings certificates. The total value of money and certificates was more than £500. In addition, there were also ration books and clothing coupons.

Within a few minutes of knowing the nature of her ‘find’ Miss Scott was at Conisborough Police Station reporting the matter, and very soon after, the owner of the bag, (a Doncaster fruiterer) was gratefully retrieving her lost property.
