Theft at Doncaster.
At the Doncaster Borough Police Court, yesterday, Michael Nessey, of Denaby, was charged with stealing eight pairs of braces, valued at 6s., the property of Mrs. Sharrad.
On Wednesday they were hung at Mrs Sharrad’s shop door by her manager. In he evening he saw the prisoner looking at some braces and asked him if he would buy a pair. He looked confused and did not answer, and then suspecting all was not right, as prisoner had his hands behind him and under his coat, turned him round and found the braces concealed under his coat.
Prisoner pleaded that he was drunk, but was sent to prison for a month.
