Matrimonial Unfelicity at Denaby.—A “Dainty” Wife.
Matilda Dainty, wife of a collier, living at Denaby, did not appear in answer to a summons which had been taken out against her for being drunk and disorderly at Denaby.
Pc. Midgley said that on Saturday, the 14th inst., he was on duty at Denaby. About half-past eleven o’clock at night he heard a great noise in the street. He went towards the noise and found Mrs. Dainty sat down on the road cursing and swearing. Her husband was there. He was calling her fearful names, and she was cursing him and calling him back. She was so drunk that she could not walk, and her husband would not assist her.
It was with great difficulty that witness got her home. There was nothing known about her previously. She told witness on Saturday night that her husband had not given her any money and she should not come to the court.
Fined 5s. and the costs, or 10 days’ imprisonment.
