Travelling Without a Ticket.

Wm. Glossop, was charged with travelling in a M. S. & L. train without a ticket.

Horace Holmes deposed that he was a clerk, in the employ of the M. S. & L. railway, and was on duty at Conisbro’, on the arrival of the 11-53 train, and collected tickets. Asked the prisoner for his ticket, and he said he had not got one. Asked for his fare, and he would not pay anything. He then gave information to Mr. Barron, the station master.—

Thos. Barron, station master, Conisbro’, deposed that the last witness called his attention to the prisoner being without a ticket, and his drunken state. He said he had no ticket. Took him from the train and detained him two hours, till he was a little more sober, and still he refused to pay, and had to give him in charge.

Fined 10s., 16s. 5d. costs, and pay the fare 1s. 4d., or go to prison 21 days.
