Order Of Britons, Fullerton Lodge.

The Members of the above lodge held their Anniversary, on Monday last, which was very successful. On assembling at the lodge (Freesby Arms) they formed a procession, and marched to Church, where an earnest address was given to them by the curate in charge, the Rev. D. L. McNally. On their return a sumptuous dinner was awaiting them, provided by the worthy host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Slater; and which was served up in a praiseworthy manner. Over 100 sat down, and their wants were efficiently supplied by Dr. Hills and J. Warburton, Esqs., who presided at the tables, and who also did active service with the carvers.

After all had received their fill the cloth was withdrawn and the remainder of the evening was spent in a jovial manner; the proceedings being at intervals suitably interspersed with songs, etc., sung by Messrs. Taylor, Farmer, and others, which were loudly applauded. On Tuesday, the members’ wives and friends numbering 200, sat down to an excellent tea, provided in the spacious club-room. Several ladies in the neighbourhood kindly favoured the promoters with their presence. On Wednesday, a further monster tea was held, at the same place, and attended by Mr. Kilner Bateson’s band, which was ably conducted by Mr. Taylor.

Great credit indeed is due to the host and hostess, for having so comfortably and ably provided for the many events enumerated above, to the entire satisfaction of all concerned.
