Mexborough 51 Denaby 37

Bennett, 12, Jenkinson, 20 Gregory 15, Hutchinson 10

These two clubs met on Saturday last, and played an interesting game on the ground of the former, in the presence of a large number of spectators. The Denaby team first occupied the wickets, and very rapidly their “pegs” fell, Gregory and Washington being the only player scoring any number of note. The hall innings concluded for 37 runs – eight of which were by.

Mexborough, were represented by Bennett and Jenkinson, who together manipulated 32. The Axe brothers were unfortunate. The innings concluded for 51, being 14 more than their opponents. The bowling of Lewis and Bennett for Mexborough, was of an effective character; as was also that of Hutchinson and Beardsley for Denaby.
