Illegal Weights and Measures

At the instance of Major Hammond, Edward Barker, butcher, Denaby, was fined 20s., including costs, for having a 2lb. weight one drachm short, and two 1lb. weights a drachm each short, and two 8oz. weights half a drachm each short.

Isabella Bower, Denaby, was fined 10s., including costs, for having a 1lb. weight one and a half drachms short.

John Farmer, grocer, Denaby, was also fined 10s., including costs, for having four weights deficient, viz., one 4lb. weight one drachm short, a 1lb. weight two drachms short, and a 4oz. weight and one brass 8oz. weight each half a drachm short.
