Denaby Main 2 Doncaster Hyde Park Rangers 0
This match was played at Denaby on Saturday, in the presence of a fair number of spectators. Denaby won the toss and elected to play down hill; but, although the wind was likewise in their favour, they only succeeded in obtaining a goal just before half-time, which was kicked by W. Hoyland.
On the change of ends, the visitors struggled hard to avert defeat, and, although they had the best of the luck, the ball was almost always at their end, the Denaby citadel being throughout the game practically out of danger.
After some good play, in which the brothers Hoyland and A. Davis were most conspicuous, the home team succeeded in scoring again, thus winning by two goals to nil.
Denaby team:—W. Upton, goal; J. Wild (captain) and F. Plant, backs; H. Holland, R. Webster, and J. Beardsley, half-backs; S. Holland, E. Worton, A. Davis, F. Hoyland, and W. Hoyland, forwards.
