A Fight between Colliers at Denaby
John Lewis and James Oates, colliers, of Denaby, were charged by P.C. Midgley with making an affray at Denaby on the 17th inst.
Lewis did not appear.
The constable stated that on Sunday night, the 17th inst., whilst on duty in Denaby, at about 8 o’clock in the evening, he heard a disturbance, and on going to the place from whence the noise proceeded, he found Lewis and Oates with their coats off fighting.
Oates was bound over in the sum of £5 to keep the peace for six months, and to pay the costs; a warrant was issued for the apprehension of Lewis.
