A Denaby Constable Assaulted
At the Rotherham Police Court, before G. W. Chambers (chairman), H. Jubb, and H. Otter, William Davis was fined 20s., including costs, or fourteen days’ imprisonment, for assaulting Police-constable Midgley at Denaby on the 21st ult. Joseph Wrigley was also fined 5s. and costs, or seven days’ imprisonment, for resisting the officer in the execution of his duty.
The constable stated that he had discovered two men fighting and, upon appearing at the scene, was struck by Davis and resisted by Wrigley. Davis claimed that Midgley had struck him twice with his walking stick.
