Conisbro’ Gas Company

The annual meeting of shareholders in this company was held yesterday, in the church schools, Mr. E. Crawshaw presiding. There were present the Rev. J. G. Wood (vicar), Messrs. C. Searle, C. Kilner, J. Booth, Conisbro’; W. Beevers, Mexbro’; T. Shearman, Doncaster; P. Nicholson, Aylever, &c.

The report was of a favourable character, and announced a dividend of 5 per cent. The outlay in new retorts and extension of mains to new house property had proved remunerative. There had been a greatly increased consumption of gas, rendering it necessary for the directors to consider the advisability of providing greater facilities for the production of a reliable supply during the winter months.

After some discussion, on a motion by the Vicar recommending that a new holder should be provided, the proposition was withdrawn, the feeling of the meeting being in favour of leaving the matter in the hands of the directors.

The report and balance sheet were adopted, and Messrs. Searle, Beevers, and Kilner, the retiring directors, were re-elected. A vote of thanks to the directors for their services during the past year concluded the proceedings.
