Dangerous Practice

At Doncaster on Saturday, Alex. Bromley, carter, Sheffield, was summoned “for not allowing a space of at least 50 yards between each of two or more carriages of explosives at Conisbrough on the 15th inst.”

The defendant is a contractor, and five carts or waggons containing dynamite were proceeding from Swinefleet to Sheffield, and on arriving at Conisbrough they were close together instead of being 50 yards from each other.

The Chairman said it was a serious offence, as if an accident had occurred there was sufficient dynamite in the carts to blow all Conisbro’ up.

The defendant’s brother appeared, and a fine of £5 was imposed.
