A Violent Woman at Conisbro’

On Saturday, at Doncaster, Jane May, married woman, Conisbro’, was charged with having assaulted another married woman, named Ellen Jennings, at Conisbro’.

The complainant, who had two very black eyes, stated that the attack upon her was unprovoked, and that it was all the more condemnable owing to her (complainant’s) condition, she being enceinte.

The defendant said she was sorry for what she had done. She lost her temper. She did not cause the two black eyes; one was given by complainant’s husband. The complainant had been scandalising her.

The Chairman said a very violent assault had been committed.

The defendant was fined £1 and costs, or one month’s imprisonment in default.
