Theft of Beef at Conisbro’
Yesterday, at the Doncaster West Riding Police Court, William Pugh, navvy, Conisbro’, was charged with having stolen 20 lbs. of beef belonging to a Brincliffe butcher named Baker.
It appeared that the meat was on a dray, and that it was hanging outside the Station Inn, Baker being inside. Pugh was seen to take the beef away under his coat, and was at once followed by the owner.
When he saw the theft had been discovered, Pugh flung the beef over a hedge. Police-constable Trueman apprehended the man.
The case was adjourned.
