Taking a Match down the Pit
Joseph Hall, Denaby, was summoned for breach of special rule 99 by taking a lucifer match down the Denaby Main pit.
Peter Perry said he had made an examination of the men in one section of the mine, and found a lucifer match in the defendant’s pocket.
The defendant said he did not know it was there. The mine was a very fiery one.
He was fined 5s. and costs.
