New Offices at Conisborough
I have not had the pleasure of seeing the plans yet, but it is the subject of general conversation in the parish that the Denaby and Cadeby Colliery Company contemplate the erection of substantial offices, facing the main road, opposite the railway station at Conisborough, and that a row of dwellings will also be placed near the same footpath, stretching in the direction of New Conisborough.
This will certainly give Conisborough a much more imposing appearance at the entrance of the town from the M.S. & L. line. At present the aspect of the place is more imposing from the main road to Doncaster, houses lying thick along the slope, and on the rising ground to the south of the castle ruins.
If it be true, a new public house is also to be erected at New Conisborough. Should such an application be made either to the J.P.’s or to the populace, I rather fancy the “ayes” would be in the majority, as it is a wide area between the Station Inn and the Denaby Main liquor shop.
