The Denaby Unemployed.
Nipsey Money Distributed.
Yesterday at noon the miners, numbering 700 or 800, who are still out of work at the Denaby and Cadeby Collieries received their weekly “nipsey” money, which totalled 5s. 6d. per man and 1s. per boy.
This is an increase of 1s. 6d. over last week.
There has been no material change in the situation in the mining village during the week, but both collieries are nearly full up it is obvious that practically all who have not been again set on will have to seek employment elsewhere.
Unfortunately, work is not so easy to secure in this district at the present time, and it is evident that many will be out of work for some time yet.
The outlook is not particularly bright, and the distress and poverty at present existing look like increasing rather than diminishing the difficulties unless the men can obtain the work that is so urgently needed.
