The Alleged Fracas at Newark.

Our Denaby correspondent has had an interview with the Denaby United players re the alleged assault at Newark last Saturday.

Shaw, the Denaby half-back, states that he had to take refuge from the crowd in the directors’ tent. Before he reached the building, however, he was knocked down and severely kicked about the body and legs, which are now badly bruised.

Roper also states that he was assaulted, a number of militiamen of the 4th Derbyshire Regiment being prominent in the attack on himself and Shaw.

The Denaby club intend placing the matter before the proper authorities.
