Drunkenness.

Chas. Turner, collier, Denaby, was charged with having been drunk on licensed premises at Mexboro’ on the 14th inst.

Police-constable Oade stated that he was on duty on the 11th inst., and visited the Montagu Arms at 8.20 p.m. In the dram shop he found the defendant drunk, who asked for a glass of beer in his presence. He was not served with the liquor, but was ordered out.

He refused to go away, and Inspector Beevers took him in the direction of his home.

Police-constable Moore stated that he saw the defendant in High-street, Mexboro’, about 7.30 p.m. on the day named, very drunk. He told him that he had better go home as soon as possible.

Defendant said he had been under the doctor’s hands for two months, and the small quantity of beer (four pints) which he had taken must have got into his head.

A fine of 5s. and 12s. 6d. costs was imposed.
