Derby County Reserve  6  Denaby United  0

Denaby had a rough time of it at Derby. The County Reserves were on their best behaviour, and gave their opponents no quarter. Their mid-field tactics were excellent, and their shooting at goal was admirable. In fact, with a less expert custodian than Hancock to face, the Reserves might easily have run up a considerable score, but thanks to the fine performance of the player named, the scoring was kept down to the round half-dozen.

Apart from Hancock, Chapman was the most prominent player on the Denaby side. There was a demonstration at one period of the second half against Porter, whose style of bringing down Barker and Middleton in quick succession left nothing to be desired in point of vigour. On the first occasion an unfruitful penalty was given against him, and on the second, his victim had to be carried off the field. He was, however, able to return. Davies and Lloyd played admirably for Derby, but the resources of the defence were not severely taxed.
