Taking a Pipe Down the Pit
Patrick Flynn was summoned by the Denaby Main Colliery Company for taking a pipe down the pit. Defendant pleaded guilty.
James Walker, a searcher at the bottom of the pit, said on one of the days appointed for him to search the workmen’s pockets he found a pipe in defendant’s pocket.
Mr. Gichard, who appeared for the Denaby Main Colliery Company, said that the company did not wish to press the case, but they were bound to bring the matter forward.
The defendant begged for leniency, as he had only been working a fortnight, and he was let off with a caution.
