A Denaby Man Robbed at Doncaster
Yesterday, at Doncaster, a young man named Wm. Walters was charged with having stolen a beast’s heart, of the value of 1s. 9d., and a pocket handkerchief belonging to Richard S. Gill, labourer, Denaby.
On Saturday prosecutor bought the meat at Doncaster and afterwards went to a public house, meeting the prisoner there. While the Denaby man was drinking lemonade Walters walked off with the heart, which was wrapped up in a handkerchief.
Information was given to the police, and Walters was apprehended at the railway station.
In defence, he said he had bought the meat from the prosecutor, but this was denied.
The prisoner was sent to Wakefield for two weeks with hard labour.
