Wife Desertion at Denaby
Charles Haywood, collier, of Eckington, was charged with deserting his wife during the last seven months.
He pleaded guilty. Mary Ann Haywood, wife of the defendant, said they had been married 27 years. They were living at Denaby, and her husband left her during the strike and went away without giving her any warning. He did not allow her anything, and he was living at Eckington with another woman. She had no children with her, and she was living with a married daughter.
Defendant said he went away because she pawned all the things he had, the children with him. He was only working four days a week.
An order for 7s. 6d. per week was made, and defendant to pay the costs.
