Conisboro’ Motor Cyclist Fined

Jas. Johnson, miner, of New Conisboro’, was summoned for furiously riding a motor cycle at Wath on the 2nd June.

P.s. Phillipson (476) stated that at 9.40 in the morning of the 2nd June he was near the police station at Wath, when he saw the defendant, who was riding a motor cycle at a furious rate—between 20 and 25 miles an hour. Witness put his hand up for the defendant to stop, and he steadied himself, but did not stop. He saw him the following Saturday, and defendant then told him that his machine was broken.

P.s. Phillipson (568) gave corroborative evidence.

The Chairman, in fining the defendant 5s. and the costs, said that motor cycles, he thought, were more dangerous than the large motor cars.
