Refusing to Quit the Denaby Main Hotel

Frank Hassall, miner, of Conisboro’, was charged with being disorderly and refusing to quit the Denaby Main Hotel on July 25th. Defendant did not appear. From the evidence it appeared that he tried to get drink at the hotel, and being refused fell asleep on the premises. On the waiter trying to get him out, he struck him in the eye.

Eventually, the defendant was forcibly ejected, and afterwards caused a great disturbance in the street. He had received notice to quit the service of the Denaby and Cadeby Collieries, Limited, and had left the district. Defendant was also charged with assaulting the police in the execution of their duty.

A fine of £1 and costs was imposed in each case, the Chairman remarking that they would do all they could to prevent this police assault.
