The Denaby Unemployed
During the last three weeks the number of unemployed at Denaby has shrunk from 190 to 150 men and three boys, several having gone back to Denaby and Cadeby.
The aid money to those unfortunate men who are unable to get work last week amounted to 4s., bringing the total up to 12s. 6d. for the last four weeks, or an average of 3s. 1½d. per week—a small sum for a family to exist upon.
The Rev. Jesse Wilson, of Mexborough, is still carrying out his work of relief, and last week gave aid in 23 pressing cases. Out of the 21 men that formed the original strike committee, 12 are still unemployed.
Some of the “leaders” have found work elsewhere, and the remainder are hoping to be similarly successful.
