Denaby Orchestral Society
The members of the Denaby Main Orchestral Society last night rendered “The Messiah,” under the conductorship of Mr. Moses Soar.
The vocalists and orchestra numbered 100, and the instrumentalists were led by Mr. Ben Wilson. The principals were Miss Gertie Soar (soprano), Miss Edith Richardson (Manchester) (contralto), Mr. Harry Kelson (Rotherham) (tenor), and Mr. W. A. Hamer (bass).
The manner in which the passages were rendered by the chorus was evidence of the careful training received. The solos of the principals met with a cordial reception.
The choir are practising Mendelssohn’s “Elijah,” which they will give during the course of the season.
