At Newark. Barnett scored after five minutes, and though the home team had the best of the exchanges they could not score again before half-time.

In the second half Kent scored after good work by Barnett, and a minute later Tayles only just saved his charge. Play was very vigorous, and Smith, of Newark, was carried off the field.
