Doncaster Board of Guardians

At a meeting, held on Saturday, Mr. J. Boomer presiding, Dr. Twigg, vaccination officer for the Mexborough district, nominated his assistant, Mr. F. Howe, as his deputy.

Two tenders were opened for the supply of coal for twelve months for the Workhouse, one being at 11s. 3d. per ton by the Denaby Main Colliery Company, and the other at 16s. 6d. and 14s. from Newton, Chambers, and Co. It was stated that the Denaby Company’s tender last year was 12s. 8d. per ton. It was decided to accept the tender of the Denaby Company.

On the proposition of the Rev. F. W. Peel, Mr. J. Gillott, one of the recently-elected members for Conisborough, was placed on the Rural Sanitary Authority in the place of Mr. Sharp, and Mr. F. Ogley was elected on the Visiting Committee instead of Mr. Appleyard, the two unseated members.
