A Plucky Collier

On Wednesday, a horse attached to a cart laden with poultry was dashing at a tremendous pace through Denaby Main village.

The gates of the railway crossing were closed, and a passenger train was approaching, but the animal kept on its course.

A young collier, Hiram Robinson, observing the danger, sprang to the horse’s head, and arrested its progress just as the passenger train came up.

Several colliers witnessed this brave act, and applauded Robinson for his pluck.
