A Conisboro’ Man Without a License
John Coxsedge, Conisboro’, was accused of having killed game without a license at that place on the 20th of November last.
Mr. Mahoney, inland revenue officer, prosecuted, and said that in the early hours of the morning of the date named, defendant and another man, named Frost, were seen by Sergeant Orton and P.C. Duffin going out of Conisboro’ towards Edlington.
About seven o’clock the same morning the police saw the men returning, and on seeing the police the defendant and his companion made off, but were intercepted and searched.
The defendant had on him a game bag, which contained four newly-killed pheasants. Frost had a gun in two pieces under his jacket, and each of them had a quantity of full and empty cartridges.
Defendant had not a game license, nor had he since taken one out.
Sergeant Orton, P.C. Duffin, and Samuel Elliott (inland revenue officer at Conisboro’), gave evidence, and the defendant was fined 40s., including costs.
