Whitwick White Cross v Denaby

At Whitwick, on a sodden ground, rain falling at the commencement of the game. Play was of the give-and-take order. Price scored a goal for Whitwick from Metcalf’s centre. Price put in two capital shots, one resulting in a fruitless corner. Denaby broke away, a grand shot being stopped smartly by Wilson. Shales scored the second for Whitwick, and before half-time two more were obtained.

Rain fell continuously, and the game proceeded under most miserable conditions. Whitwick forced a corner, which was sent behind. Denaby scored with a long shot after five minutes’ play. Two more corners fell to Whitwick, but both were easily cleared. Price put in a good shot, which was partially cleared. Hunt netting the fifth goal for Whitwick.

Whilst the custodian was down Hunt followed with the sixth. Denaby scored a second goal from a penalty, and the home team made their total into eight.

Result: Whitwick White Cross, 8 goals; Denaby, 2 goals.
