Denaby United  1  Whitwick White Cross  0

Denaby United’s unexpected win at Lincoln the previous week seems to have put new heart in the team, for on Saturday their dashing play fully entitled them to another brace of League points, this time gained at the expense of Whitwick White Cross.

The game was played at Denaby, and the visitors had a shade the best of the half, the sides crossing over on level terms. The concluding moiety ruled greatly in favour of Denaby, whose persistent aggressiveness proved a source of trouble to the Whitwick back-markers.

It was nearing the end when Roper, who had but just recovered from a temporary injury, gave Denaby the winning goal, and much enthusiasm was displayed by the spectators. The game on the whole was well worth watching, and play at times reached quite a high mark of excellence, however combining flashy rather than sustained.

As usual, the Denaby defence was sound, and the forwards exhibited marked improvement.
