Funeral of Florence Parry

On Good Friday the last act in the “missing girl episode” took place, when the mortal remains of the girl Florence Parry were laid to rest in the Denaby cemetery.

Very few people were present at the graveside, apart from the relatives of the deceased. Probably the severe weather and other counter attractions at Conisboro’ were responsible for this.

It will be remembered that this unfortunate girl disappeared mysteriously, and all efforts to discover her whereabouts proved futile for a period of three weeks. During last week the body was taken from the river Don, at the point known as Rainbow Bridge. A verdict of “found drowned” was returned by the jury who made the usual inquiry.

The interment of the deceased took place at the Denaby Parish Church cemetery on Good Friday afternoon, the burial service being read by the Rev. A. Fisk, curate in charge.

The coffin, which was covered with wreaths, was borne by twelve of her boy and girl companions, and the route to the burial ground was thronged by people watching the sad procession, and many expressions of sympathy were heard.

The funeral arrangements were conducted by Mr. J. Millwood, undertaker in person.
