Conisboro’ Maintenance Case

William Farrar, labourer, Conisboro’, was summoned to show cause why he should not contribute towards the maintenance of his step-son in an industrial school.

From the evidence of means furnished by Sergt. Horton and Mr. ——, farmer, Conisboro’, the latter being defendant’s employer, it appeared Farrar was engaged to drive a night-soil cart, and although his wages for the past few weeks had been only 20s., his standing wage was 24s. weekly. There were dependent upon him four children.

Defendant had proffered to pay 1s. weekly. An order to contribute 1s. 6d. weekly was made.
