Conisboro’ Still Unhappy

Even on Bank Holiday the lot of Conisboro’ was a mournful one. They were the hosts of Hoyland Silkstone, the team which just about a week before had dismissed the whole of the side for eleven runs.

On Monday, Conisboro’ certainly did better than this, more than five times better in fact, but they in no way did well enough to prevent the customary defeat. The fact that one man on the side reached double figures is a fact which ought to be commemorated with a white stone.

Hoyland Silkstone, not content with winning, had to rub it in by obtaining the runs required without the loss of a wicket. Cossworth and Thompson were guilty of this unkindness, the one making 36 and the other 13, or the former scoring nearly three times as fast as the latter.

I am pleased to be able to congratulate Conisboro’ upon the improved form they are showing. They are going on the lines of the doubling up business, their three last scores having been 11, 22 and 59. At this rate they ought to score above a hundred to-day, against Swinton.
