Strained Relations
George Mason, a miner, of Denaby, was summoned on Saturday at Doncaster for assaulting his mother-in-law, Mrs. Barnfield.
The defendant called at the house of his mother-in-law and asked for his wife. Entering the house, he locked the door. Mrs. Barnfield said when she tried to unlock the door Mason pressed her hand on the key and injured it to such an extent that she had to visit the doctor.
She could not say if the action was intentional. He did not strike her. Mason said he had no wish to injure the woman, but when he entered the house she became very abusive.
The case was dismissed.
