“Best For 20 Years”

Denaby and Cadeby Athletic Club embracing cricket, tennis and bowls sections finished the year owing approximately £50 and having wiped off a further £100 of money owing. During the past three seasons they have reduced their debt from £292 to approximately £50 (which will be cleared before the start of the new season) and the balance sheet presented to Sunday’s annual meeting was generally agreed to be the best for the past 20 years.

Mr. J. Burton continues as Club President, Mr. George Allen as chairman and Mr. Amos Jones as general cricket and financial secretary.

The cricket committee is Messrs. R. Boot, R. Baines, L. Dodd, P. Dyson, H. Hirst, S. Loten, J. Richards, A. Springthorpe, R. Shepherd, T. Stones, F. Wheatley, T. Wakefield, A. Williams, C. Reed, W. Lawley and Arthur Jones.

A. Ellis 648 runs, average 58.9;
J. Wilkes, 386-55.1;
J. Munden, 475-39.5;

Bowling:
H. Newton, 46 wickets, average 9.93;
J. Richards, 40-11.15;
J. Forrest, 23-12.06;
M. Cowan, 30-12.63.

Doncaster League Batting:

Peter Taylor, 168-24.0;

Forrest and Cowan, both of whom were 17, did particularly well in their first season. Arthur Ellis scored most runs and won the South Riding League batting averages.
