A Conisbrough Case

Three Conisborough youths, William Arthur Moody (17), 1, Barnsley Avenue; Thomas Dixon (17), 3, Copley Avenue; and Alexander Fred Revill (19), 10, Leslie Avenue, were remanded for fourteen days at Doncaster on Saturday on a charge of stealing a slot machine containing cigarettes valued £5 19s. 2d. Revill was also charged with stealing cigarettes valued at 4s. from John Milnes, Clifton Hill, Conisborough, on September 19th.

Revill pleaded “not guilty” to the charge against him. All three pleaded “guilty” to stealing the machine.

Inspector Redfearn applied for the remand, and said there were several other charges to be brought against the youths who had promised to assist the police to recover the stolen property. Other charges to be brought against them included thefts of a slot machine on October 23rd at Warmsworth, valued at £6 1s. 4d., and stealing a white leghorn and seven fowls at Conisborough on October 24th, and several others.

The youths were allowed bail.
