Game Trespass at Hooton Roberts

Alfred Balance and Walter Thicket, two young men residing at Conisbrough, were charged with trespassing in pursuit of game at Hooton Roberts on 7 January 1870, on land belonging to Earl Fitzwilliam.

They were suspected because they carried nets and were accompanied by a dog.

Both were fined 30s and costs, or 21 days’ imprisonment in default.
