Schoolmistress Honoured
Graceful Tribute from Archbishop of York
With reference to our notice of the retirement of Mrs. Kaye from the head-mistresship of the Old Denaby Church of England schools, after twenty-five years’ service there, and nearly fifty in the profession, the handsome expressions of appreciation which were tendered to her last week from the managers, clergy, and wardens of the school and parish, together with the testimonial in an illuminated address and a purse of gold, are now supplemented by a beautiful tribute from no less eminent a person than the head of the Church in the North, the Archbishop of York, from whom Mrs. Kaye has received the following letter:—
“Bishopthorpe, York, 21st February, 1913.
Dear Mrs. Kaye,—

I have heard from the Vicar of Mexboro’ that you are about to give up the post of head-mistress at Old Denaby after twenty-five years’ faithful and loyal service. I note that you have given all your life to the service of the Church and its schools, and that you have done this as a labour of love, and because you felt it was a high honour to be allowed to teach and influence these children.
You may be sure that such service is known and valued by Him in whose honour all our service is done, but as His representative in the rule of the Church in this Diocese, I would like to send you this message of gratitude for all you have done, and of benediction on the years that remain.
Yours very truly, Cosmo Ebor.”
