William Isaac Gibbs’ Election Address

Ladies and Gentlemen,
After being a member on the Parish Council for the last three years, I have been invited by a large number of ratepayers of Conisborough to represent this Parish on the Doncaster Rural District Council, and I have pleasure in acceding to their request.
I have been a resident in Conisborough for the last thirteen years, and therefore claim to have a good knowledge of the wants and requirements of the Parish.
Conisborough is practically divided into two parts, the Old Village and Denaby Main. In the latter there are 911 houses, with a population of upwards of 4,700. I consider this Mining Community, paying as it does more than half the rates, should have more direct representation by one living in their midst, and fully cognisant of their requirements.
My ambition will be to advocate better roads, footpaths, and lighting arrangements, and to ensure a perfect sanitation.
I am an absolutely independent Candidate, un-influenced by any trade connection, uncontrolled by politics, creed, or party, and, therefore, perfectly at liberty to exercise unbiased judgment in the interests of the Ratepayers as a whole.
If elected, I shall depend upon the residents bringing to my notice all matters requiring attention, and with their assistance I hope to be able to effect a very considerable improvement in the administration of this, the most important and largest contributory Parish in the District.
I beg respectfully to solicit one of your votes on the Polling Day.
Yours devotedly,
WILLIAM ISAAC GIBBS.
