New Caretaker
Newly-appointed caretaker for Conisbrough Station Road School is Mr. Walter Horton, 32, March Street, Conisbrough. A native of Conisbrough, Mr. Horton has worked for 24 years at the local sickle works, where he took up employment after three years at Edlington brickworks.
His father, the late Mr. Walter James Horton, a coal carter for Denaby and Cadeby Home Coal Carting Company, died last year, aged 80, but his mother still lives down Burcroft Hill, in the house in which Mr. Horton was born 40 years ago.
During the war Mr. Horton served four years with the R.A.F. overseas. He is a member of Conisbrough British Legion branch. Mrs. Horton is a native of Edlington, but she came to live in Conisbrough when she married her husband 20 years ago. They have a son, aged 15, who attends Conisbrough Modern School.
