A Denaby Presentation

Miss Ruth Parry, who has retired from the Westfallite Factory, Denaby, after 43 years’ service, was presented at a gathering of workers and staff with the Company’s gift of a carpet square.
It was presented by Mr. M. S. Wilson, Works Superintendent, in the absence of Dr. A. J. Lowe, Works Manager.
Mr. Wilson spoke of the very good work Miss Parry had done at the Westfallite Factory, both in the Explosives Department and the Detonator Department, and everyone hoped that her retirement in Blackpool would be long and enjoyable.
The collection made by workers and staff was presented to her by Miss I. Chappell, a member of the Works Council, who said how happy she was to have known her, and worked with her.
A bouquet was given to her from the foremen and girls, who expressed good wishes for a long retirement.
Miss Parry was first employed by British Westfallite Ltd., a cartridge case maker, when explosives were manufactured at Denaby.
After going through the departments she finally became a cartridge filler, continuing until 1935, when the explosives plant was transferred to Gathurst Factory. She was then transferred to the Electric Detonator Department; from 1935 until her retirement, she has performed all the operations in the Assembly Department, being finally engaged on Check Testing for 11 years.
She is 61.
