Patient’s 100th Birthday
Hospital Celebration is Planned at Conisbrough
Mrs. Mary Ann Harrison, who has been a patient in Conisbrough Hospital since August 1957, will have the place of honour at a ward party on November 4th, in celebration of her 100th birthday.
Mrs. Harrison was born at King Lynn aboard the schooner “Eliza,” of which her father was captain, and she lived on the boat for seven years until she went ashore for schooling.
For some years before her marriage in 1882 to Mr. William Harrison, a farm foreman, she was, as Miss Sylvester, a children’s nurse at Hallgate, Doncaster.
Mrs. Harrison is the head of five generations. She had four children, three girls and a boy. One son still living is Mr. Edgar Harrison, of 33 Shepherd Road, Balby, Doncaster, and his daughter is Mrs. Eileen Claxton, of 74 Earlsmere Avenue, Balby, who is the mother of the youngest member of the family, Sandra, born in July, 1959.
Members of the staff and other patients will join with members of the family in the birthday celebrations.
