Bother at Denaby—Disorderly Miners.

There were several cases of disorderlies from Denaby, Mr. Isaac Gibbs being the complainant in three cases.

In the first case Isaac Traunter and Thomas Cusworth, both miners, of Conisboro’, were charged with having been drunk and refusing to quit the Denaby Main Hotel, on June 27th.

According to the story told by Mr. Gibbs and a waiter named Payne, the defendants about 2-30 p.m. asked to be supplied with drink. Payne refused to serve them, whereupon they became awkward. They were also asked to leave, but they would not do so, and finally they had to be ejected. Cusworth also used some obscene language, and refused to go out of the hotel. Both the defendants were intoxicated.

Cusworth was fined 5s. and costs, and the other defendant 20s., including costs.

Martin Connelly, miner, of Conisboro’, was summoned for being disorderly and refusing to quit the Denaby Main Hotel.

Mr. Gibbs stated that at 8 p.m. on Sunday night last the defendant came into the large room of the hotel. He had not been in many minutes before he struck a man who was stood near the counter. It took three or four men to eject defendant. He was not drunk. He was a young Irishman, who had come over with £30 or £40, and this was the fifth bother they had had with him.

Defendant did not appear, and he was fined 20s. and costs.
