The Denaby Tour.
A Win at Leamington.
After a match spoilt by rain at Mansfield on Saturday, the Denaby cricketers on the tour met Leamington on the Leamington ground on Monday, and won by 73 runs. Denaby batted first, and Greenwood and Worthington both failed. Tibbles and J. White, however, set the side going towards a good score, and Narrerway met with the later batsmen did well. Barber contributed a useful score, and G. L. Robinson settled down to a productive innings, passing the half century before he was caught. Narraway and Shoosmith masterfully helped up the total, and the innings closed with the score at 168.
Leamington tried fairly well on their task, although Narraway caught Ritter napping before he had scored, but later George Worthington’s bowling caused a collapse, temporarily stayed by the efforts of Osborne—who made the highest individual contribution. Treadway, who was the last man, carried out his bat for 17. Worthington and Poole shared the wickets, but the former had by far the better figures, his five costing him only 13 runs.
