School Board
The usual monthly meeting of this board was held in the Board-room, Conisbro’ on Thursday evening last. Dr. Hall in the chair. The other members present were, Mr. G. Walker, Mr. E. Greaves, and Mr. J. Wightall. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The Vicar of Conisbro’ attended (by request) before the board, in reference to the cottage property adjoining the churchyard, and which the board decided at the previous meeting should be first offered to the Vicar and churchwardens at the price at which it had been valued, viz., £150.
The Clerk stated he had, as requested by the board, sent to the Education Department a plan of the property, its estimated value, and the name of the parties to whom it was proposed to offer it. He had not yet received a reply from the Department.
After a short conversation on the subject, it was unanimously resolved that, with the consent of the Education Department, the property be presented to the Vicar and churchwardens of Conisbro’, with the understanding that a portion of the ground be used for enlarging the churchyard and the remainder for widening and thus improving the highway.
The Clerk was instructed to write the Education Department, informing them of this altered proposal, and of the board’s reason for the same.
A cheque for £25, to pay the teachers’ salaries, being signed, the board rose.
