Struck a Waiter
Trouble in a Denaby Hotel
For being drunk and refusing to quit licensed premises at Conisboro’ on November 23rd, Patrick Quinn, miner, of Denaby, and Michael Dunn, miner, of Maltby, were each ordered to pay £1 and 13/6 costs.
Mr. W. M. Gichard, solicitor, Rotherham, prosecuted on behalf of Mr. William Isaac Gibbs, the licensee of the Denaby Main Hotel, and stated that on the Sunday in question the two defendants went to the bar of the hotel and asked to be supplied with drink. They were refused and asked to leave the premises, but instead they loitered about. Quinn eventually went up to a man who was sitting down having in his hand a leash to which a dog was attached. Quinn struck the man, and during the commotion the dog got loose.
Stanley Davis, a waiter at the Denaby Main Hotel, said he was in the bar at twelve minutes to ten, when the defendants came and asked for drink, which he refused them. The defendant Quinn hit him on the arm.
