Mexborough & Swinton Times – Friday 3 August 1934

The Rev. C. Norton officiated at the wedding of Miss Kathleen Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Smith, “Craig Lea,” Station Road, Conisborough, and Mr. Charles Cooper, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Cooper, of Rawmarsh, at St. Peter’s Church, Conisborough, on Wednesday. Both the bride and bridegroom are school teachers.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was wearing pale blue with wind-swept satin. She was attended by her friend, Miss Irene Pawson, of Micklefield, who was attired in floral georgette. The best man was Mr. A. Walton, of Swinton.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents after which Mr. and Mrs. Cooper left for a honeymoon at Scarboro’. On their return they will reside at Rotherham.

The wedding was held quietly owing to a bereavement a week ago in the bridegroom’s family.
